Prayer 109: For a Heart Enlightened and Strengthened (Royal Priests II)

1 Peter, 2 Corinthians, Royal Priests

Gracious Father, we are reminded that as royal priests, we are called to bear the extraordinary and life-giving blessing of intimacy with Christ. It is from this intimate relationship that all royal priestly attributes flow.

As royal priests, we are called to bear the very likeness of Christ for his glory. We, whose veil has been lifted opening our eyes to see Jesus, and now with unconstrained freedom to approach and experience his very presence, continually reflect his glory inside and out. We are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. This is uncommon in this world, even peculiar. May all see we serve a glorious master.

We ask that as we commune with you through your powerful and precious word and prayer, we might experience the supernatural renewing of our minds transforming us to take on the characteristics of our King. Rescue us from our natural intrigue with self which results in defeat or occupation with others and brings disappointment. Rather, give us hearts that are enamored with Christ and His glory, that we might become more and more like Him.

Enabled by the Holy Spirit, we ask that as we behold Christ’s glory, we might be indelibly impacted and transformed to take on his very nature bearing his very likeness. May we overflow with his grace, love, humility, holiness, purity, mercy, peace, compassion, justice, devotion to the Father’s will, sacrificial heart, genuine interest in others, speaking the truth in love, and abiding faith among a sea of other attributes.

For You said, Father, “Let light shine out of darkness,” making your light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of your glory displayed in the face of Christ.

We ask that we might be a living portrait of Christ committed to always pointing others to our source of hope and power, Christ himself.

In Christ,

Blessings!

I Peter 2:9
9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

II Corinthians 3:18
18 And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

II Corinthians 4:6
For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.

acceptance, power, and security found only in Him. Imagine the kind of confidence that Paul had… not one based upon circumstances at all, but built upon security and promise that came through his relationship with Christ. (Pg. 15- Mistaken Identity)
