Prayer 111: For a Heart of Hope (Royal Priests IV)

1 Peter, Acts, Ephesians, Isaiah, Mark, Matthew, Royal Priests

Gracious Father, as Royal Priests, we are called to bear the extraordinary and life-giving blessing of intimacy with Christ. It is from this intimate relationship that all royal priestly attributes flow. As royal priests, we are called to bear the very likeness of Christ for his glory and bear the burden of others for Christ’s glory.

Today, Father, as your royal priests, we pray about being called to bear the message of the excellencies of Christ as your light shines through us as a beacon of hope. Lord Jesus may your light shine through us into darkness and clearly provide a pathway for all into the presence of Christ our King. We ask that you open the eyes of those we share with, turning them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by utter dependence in Christ.

You, Jesus, said to your disciples, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

As your Royal Priests empowered by you, we ask to be the salt of the earth and a radiant light to this world enamored and revering Christ as our Lord. Fill us with your wisdom and knowledge enabling us to speak to the heart cry of anyone who might listen about our indescribable hope in Christ alone. We ask that we might speak of you with humility, gentleness, timeliness, and respect, yet with urgency and unashamedly, as we point all to Christ. Oh, the honor to proclaim the beautiful and life redeeming message of Christ our Lord!

In Christ,

Blessings!

I Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

Ephesians 5:8-9
8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) 10 and find out what pleases the Lord.

18 to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’

Acts 26:18
to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.

Isaiah 42:16

I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.

Matthew 5:13-16
“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet. “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Mark 16:15-16
15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

I Peter 3:15-16
15 But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. 16 But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.

Imagine knowing that kind of intimacy with Christ. Imagine knowing that level of love,
