Prayer 95: For a Broken and Contrite Heart

1 John, Galatians, Hebrews, Hope in Christ Alone, Zachariah

Gracious Father, it is with overwhelming peace and purpose that we approach your throne of grace and power. Holy Spirit, we thank you that you dwell in us and enable us “to live is Christ.” As we approach each day, our confidence is found in only one thing—the resurrection power of Jesus Christ our Lord. Bless us to fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

We brought nothing to the table. It is Christ our Savior who secures and sustains our new identity and makes us your beloved children. It is Christ who communes with us and fills our every need for intimacy. It is Christ who supernaturally empowers our lives and brings about eternal influence. We have been crucified with Christ and we no longer live, but Christ lives in us. The life we now live in the body, we live by faith in the Son of God, who loved us and gave himself for us.

Holy Spirit. Whenever we turn to fleshly hope or remedies, whether lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, or prideful kingdom building, immediately turn our hearts to trust in Christ alone. This will assure that as we go on living in the body, your glory will flow in and through our lives and assure us that our labor will be eternally fruitful, even if circumstances don’t always seem that way. Yes! To live is Christ!

In Christ,

Blessings!
