Prayer 88: For Freedom from Bondage

Galatians, Promises, Romans

Gracious Father, thank you we have been crucified with Christ and we no longer live. What freedom to know that our old sinful nature that once ruled over us is crucified and no longer controls us. It is rendered powerless! While our flesh still exists and serves as a defeated bully puffing out its chest and attempting to strike cheap jabs and threats, it no longer wields power and control. Christ is our Lord and Master.

And there’s more incredible news! We praise you Jesus that the life we now live in our body, we live by faith in the Son of God, who loves us with an indescribable love, gave himself for us, and whose Spirit—your Holy Spirit—lives in us, guaranteeing what is to come. We praise you Lord Jesus, our Redeemer! You perfectly did what we were helpless to do. You fulfilled the law on our behalf. You took upon yourself the punishment for our sin. You paid the penalty of death for us. You rose from the dead victorious over both sin and death. You restored us back into perfect union and relational intimacy with our redeeming Father. Now, our one and only spiritual focus is to trust and abide in Jesus.

Holy Spirit, supernaturally commune with us through the riches of your word, prayer, worship, and the fellowship of believers and increase closer intimacy with Christ Jesus each day. Transform us!

May the result of your powerful redemptive work in us bring indescribable glory before your throne of mercy and grace.

In Christ,

Blessings!

Galatians 2:20-21
20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. 21 I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”

Romans 6:5-6
6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— 7 because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.

Imagine what life would look like if we experienced true love, peace, freedom, and significance. Imagine the impact through our lives if Christ was that real to us. Christ came to meet us at our deepest level of need. He came to “do life” with us. He came to love us. He came to set us free. (Pg. 15- Mistaken Identity)
