Prayer 85: For The Blessing of Our True Identity

Hope in Christ Alone, Jeremiah

Gracious Father, we invite you to fill us with your promised wisdom liberally, yielding a deep sense of humility regarding our own intelligence and insight, physical strength, and fleshly riches. These are fleeting and of little value. Rather than boast in fleshly things, we eagerly desire to boast in our Lord Jesus and in the gospel and his redeeming work. May we boast in the privilege to be your precious and beloved children for whom you have paid a precious price and broken down all barriers, opening the floodgates for us to experience your holy presence and power.

We raise our voices in praise! Let nothing hold us back. Let nothing distract our attention. May we rush toward you as a parched and thirsty deer seeks streams of water. Oh, the privilege to intimately know you, Father! The Holy One. The One True God. To experience a love so great, a forgiveness so thorough, and a peace so freeing. To experience your all-powerful arms that hold and protect us so gently and fiercely. To hear your voice spoken through your infallible word and quiet and still promptings that lead to comfort, wisdom, and confidence. To experience your supernatural presence, neutralizing all fear and anxiety.

We deeply desire to experience your kindness, justice, and righteousness, which you delight in.

Oh Father, thank you!

In Christ,

Blessings!

Jeremiah 9:23-24
23 This is what the Lord says:

“Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches,

24 but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the Lord.

Mistakenly, rather than the “means of grace” (Bible study, prayer, scripture memory, worship) serving to lead me down a pathway of utter dependence in Christ, I made them steps and disciplines to further my position with Christ. (Pg. 9- Mistaken Identity)
