Prayer 82: His Word… Alive and Active

Hebrews, Promises

Gracious Father, we thank you for the privilege to always look forward with anticipation. Father, impress upon us and empower our hearts more than ever to cling to Jesus Christ; He is the same yesterday, today, and forever as we face the challenges of an unsteady world. Indeed, Christ serves as our solid foundation as we walk humbly and dependently.

We are reminded of the context of Hebrews and the temptation to hold on to worldly securities which are only temporary, fleeting, and offer no lasting value. These temptations miss the true hope only found in faith in Christ alone.

Father, You have blessed us with your inspired Living Word that speaks to us at a miraculous spiritual level and saturates our very nature with the person of Christ, through the power of your Holy Spirit. It is through this very doorway that we can experience desperately needed and supernatural intimacy, transformation, and delight in you.

Oh Father, bless us with unquenchable passion to chase hard after Christ through your Living Word, discovering promised vitality in our souls. Empower your Living Word to be active, bringing transformation in us at the deepest levels found in Christ. Impart Christ identity in us yielding eternal hope, internal peace, and humble confidence. With the razor sharp and piecing power of your Word, divide and pierce our conscience and open our hearts. With the piercing point of your Word, penetrate us at levels beyond natural human understanding, levels of bone and marrow only possible by you. Uncover self-reliance, self-ambition, delusions, and fleshly moral platitudes. Lay bare the secret thoughts of the soul and bring us to repentance, to utter dependence on Christ, and to a Christ-glorifying overflow that shapes our very heart, mind, motivations, and actions.

Oh Father, our omniscient and perfect Creator and Judge, we are never out of the precious sight of our loving Savior. May we always find ourselves aware of your presence! May your Living Word continually transform us, bringing glory to you Lord Jesus as you bring us to your promised completion!

In Christ,

Blessings!

Hebrews 13:8
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Hebrews 4:12-13
12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. 13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

The promise of the Holy Spirit is the permanent connection with Christ. The Holy Spirit would indwell them permanently, providing constant companionship, comfort, and power. (Pg. 94- Mistaken Identity)
