Prayer 81: For Christ-centered Overflow

2 Peter, James, Promises, Uncategorized

Gracious Father, your divine power has given us everything needed for a godly life through our relationship with Christ who called us by his own glory and moral perfection. What an extraordinary blessing! We are recipients of Christ’s very great and precious promises, so that through them we may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

We desire to live utterly dependent upon you, Christ Jesus, and experience the incredible overflow of your powerful presence, yielding the unimaginable blessing of experiencing your supernatural nature. Lord Jesus, we invite you to shape us into your image. We relinquish control and rely completely upon your Spirit to manifest your divine power.

Father, because of this promised work in us, by faith, we earnestly seek the impact of your divine power in and through our lives. If our fleshly motivations put anything before you, convict our heart, give us faith and desire to repent, and change our heart to seek you first. As a manifestation of your supernatural work, impart moral excellence in us. At the deepest level, transform our hearts to be centered on what is pure and righteous. Protect us from immoral compartmentalizing to gain fleshly footing. Give us faith to trust you in all things, yielding to Christ’s goodness. Allow others see Christ’s virtue flow through our words and deeds as they flow from a deeply abiding heart for Christ’s glory.

Lord Jesus, add to our virtue knowledge. Add not simply information but true experiential knowledge as we encounter your presence. May your presence supernaturally relate to us through your infallible word, prayer, Godly fellowship, and your quiet and still voice.

Fill us with wholeness, finding our identity in Christ. Guide us with wisdom, discernment, and direction day to day. Replace any sense of unrestrained, fleshly self-indulgence with self-control. We particularly ask that when our flesh serves as a bully and screams to chase after a fleshly fix or to exert prideful control, bless us with Christ-empowered self-control.

Establish in us unwavering perseverance as we face ensuing trials for your glory. Always remind us of the ultimate outcome as we fight the good fight for your glory, knowing that the trials we endure are not only moving your kingdom work forward, but perfecting us so that we will be made complete, lacking in nothing for your glory.

Lord Jesus, out of your rich promises, may godliness flow in and through us. At the deepest level of our being, we wish to experience the full extent of your sanctifying presence which yields an indescribable reverence and a continual hunger and thirst for righteousness. This is accompanied with a heart that seeks to do your will and your very character is expressed through our lives.

Father, may we exude not only a deep affection for those close to us, but the very pinnacle of Christ’s character, agape love, which is an unconditional and sacrificial love saturating every thought and action toward everyone.

In Christ,

Blessings!

II Peter 1:3-7
3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.

James 1:3-4
3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

His love and discipline continue to compel us throughout the sanctification process bringing us closer to dependence in Christ alone. (II Cor. 5:14; Heb. 12: 6)
