Prayer 79: For Supernatural for Our Spouses

Gracious Father, we are steadied and enamored with your sacrificial love that redeems and sanctifies our once helpless souls. Your presence is constant, and your love is unceasing. You are continually praising and consecrating and never condemning. You will never abandon us. You always guide with wisdom and truth. Nothing will ever drive you away. You will not let us go. You delight in us, and, amazingly, rejoice over us with singing. Enliven our spirit to grasp how wide and long and high and deep the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that we may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

Lord Jesus, you command us to love our spouses with the same incredible love you have showered on us. Empower us to spill out onto our spouses the supernatural love of Jesus that will steady and enamor their hearts as we quietly demonstrate where our source and power comes from. Like your love, cause our love to be unshakable, constant, and unceasing creating peace in their hearts. Enable your edifying love to flow through us that is full of grace, enduring hope, and praise as we pour into their lives. When challenge or conflict arise, give us openness to listen well, sensitive hearts to your Spirit. When we have sinned, give us a willing heart to quickly seek forgiveness. When wronged, give us tender communication and patience allowing your Spirit to work.

Father, increase our faith to trust in your transforming work and enable us to see hope even when things are difficult. Impart in us persevering confidence even amid confusion and chaos. With steady emotions and tender guidance yielded from your Spirit, impart though us wisdom and truth. Secure in our hearts as spouses an indestructible bond that never wavers. With your undeniable love, empower us to pour out upon our spouses delight and rejoicing over them.

Ephesians 5:25
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.
