Prayer 53: Christ, Worthy of Our Sacrifice

Hope in Christ Alone, Romans

Gracious Father, Your mercy is indescribable. We marvel at your love. A love so great that you, a Holy and Righteous God, willingly sent your Son to die for us in our desperately sinful and hopeless state so that we may live. We were dead and through your sacrificial death, you raised us to life—to life abundantly. In light of such great a love and your being our sustaining source of relational intimacy, identity, power, and hope, we thank you that you urge us to remain in an absolute dependent state of trusting only you. Through Christ, the same mercy and grace that brought salvation to us is the same mercy and grace that sustains and empowers us. By sacrificing our lives to you, we tap into the abundant overflow and the blessings of our Great Savior and Redeemer. To live in this sacrificial state promises to reflect your beauty and blessing and brings glory and honor to you; this is holy, pleasing, and true worship.

Lord Jesus, rescue us from the continual lust to conform to this helpless world. Through your incredible supernatural power, may we, with faithful hearts, trust you to continue to transform us moment by moment as your life-empowering truth renews our minds.

Then, and only then, will we be able to live supernaturally, demonstrating your good, pleasing, and perfect intentions.

In Christ,

Blessings!

Romans 12:1-2
1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Let’s start with the ultimate hope we have in Christ. I can take comfort in Him knowing that nothing can interrupt my relationship with God. I have great relief that I am set free from the bondage and obligation to sin. But why do I keep sinning? God has done His part; how do I do mine? What is this massive undertow that pulls me toward sin?” (Pg. 57- Mistaken Identity)
