Prayer 108: For a Heart Impassioned (Royal Priest I)

1 John, 1 Peter, 1 Thessalonians, 2 Corinthians, John, Psalm, Romans, Royal Priests, Zephaniah

Gracious Father, we humbly rejoice as your beloved. This is love: not that we loved you Father, but that you loved us and sent your son as a sacrifice for our sins making us one with you. Through Christ Jesus, we have become your children. Your Spirit brought about our adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” You chose us and adopted us. We are your royal lineage. We are your beloved. You are our Holy, Mighty Daddy!

You call us to bear the rights of sonship and to become powerful influencers for your kingdom as priests for Christ’s glory—Royal Priests. As your children, uniquely blessed with rich identity and secure in the intimate love of Christ, we invite you to deepen our understanding and empower us to be diligent stewards of your honorable calling.

As royal priests, we are called to bear the extraordinary and life-giving blessing of intimacy with Christ. By way of Christ’s sacrificial love, we are directed to approach your throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. The rite of passage into your very presence is beyond words. The knowledge that you delight in us, and we live in the glorious shadow of your delight is indescribable. The privilege to experientially commune with you is unfathomable.

Father, having full and immediate access to you, bless us with hearts like a deer that pants for streams of water, that our souls might pant for you.

Give us impassioned hearts to seek you, your kingdom, and your righteousness.

Give us insatiable appetites for your powerful and living word. Speak to us through it, transforming our very nature. As we commune with you, may our lives never be the same.

Give us enthusiastic hearts to bask in your presence through prayer bringing forth praise, confession, and thanksgiving, a seeking of wisdom, an enjoyment of fellowship, a pouring out of hearts, a listening, and a bringing the very real needs of others before you. In this, may we always know you hear our prayers and strike lightning bolts of blessings in and through our lives as a result.

Etch into our minds the extraordinary blessing of having an audience with the King of Kings. May we cherish these divine appointments!

Lord Jesus, remind us that this priestly privilege of intimacy with you is a constant. It is not just a moment in time, or an event dedicated to your glory, as great and vital as those moments are, but it is every moment of every day. You literally brought your kingdom presence to us first through Christ and now by investing the Holy Spirit in us, setting your seal of ownership on us, and putting your Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. You dwell in us. Our life is a constant worship experience. Your presence is without interruption. We are always held by you. Your Spirit supernaturally comforts, teaches, speaks to our heart, gives direction, bears spiritual fruit, both gives and empowers spiritual gifts, brings human prayers before the throne room of God, and assures us of our adoption; all of this brings glory to you.

Bless us with greater awareness of your continual presence which yields moment by moment intimacy. Bless us with hearts that pray without ceasing. Christ Jesus may those around us sense your glory as we experience your powerful presence. It is out of this intimate relationship with Christ that all royal priestly attributes flow.

In Christ,

Blessings!

I John 4:10
This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

Romans 8:15-17
15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

John 1:12
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name.

I Peter 2:9
9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

Zephaniah 3:17
The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”

Psalm 42:1
As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.

Matthew 6:33
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

II Corinthians 1:22
Set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

John 10:28
I give them eternal life, and they shall never

John 14:16-17
“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you”

I Thessalonians 5:16-18
16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

The believer is promised the privilege of participating in the divine nature and enjoying the fruit of life and godliness. The passage also clearly teaches that the key to participating in the divine nature and living in victory over the flesh is one of knowledge, specifically “knowledge of Him.” (Pg. 111- Mistaken Identity)
