Prayer 86: For a Heavenly Hope

Hope in Christ Alone, Revelation

Gracious Father, our hearts crave eternal life and to experience your glory, love, and perfection in the heavenly realms. At the eventual return of Christ, we will dwell on the new earth which will be perfectly prepared for His reign. Oh! To experience Christ in all his glory!

We cannot wait to hear the booming voice, roaring from your throne room, and declaring that the old is gone and the new has come. We cannot wait to sense truly being home in the arms of our Precious Savior. Oh Father, the satisfaction of dwelling in your presence for eternity is beyond our imagination. You are our God, and we are your people; we are a precious flock under your care. You will wipe every tear from our eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” We are truly set free!

We marvel at the thought that we will see you seated on your throne, up close and personal, as you will declare, “I am making everything new! Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true. It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life.”

The fleshly temptations will be exhausted. The battles among powers and principalities will be finished. The stress and pain related with loss and death will be over. The free-flowing spring of living water will quench all thirst and meet every need. We cannot wait to celebrate among the throng of believers experiencing the presence of Christ as his beloved children, the joy of victory, and the indescribably rich inheritance.

Until then, may we experience the overflow of Christ in and through our lives bringing glory, honor, and praise before Christ’s throne of mercy and grace moment by moment. Bless us with purposeful ministry and patience as we await an incredible eternity spent with Him.

In Christ,

Blessings!

Revelation 21
1 Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” 5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” 6 He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. 7 Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children.

The same grace that saved me was the same grace that would sanctify (spiritually grow) me. In other words, Christ alone would accomplish the sanctifying work in me. (Pg. 11- Mistaken Identity)
