Merciful Father, it is with a grateful heart that we enter your throne room of mercy and grace. It is out of your merciful heart that you made us alive with Christ through grace rescuing us from death and redeeming us into a vibrant living relationship with you. Your mercy is unconditional, never failing, action-oriented, comforting, and life-giving. Praise your Holy Name!
Father, with deep gratitude for your mercy and the riches of our inheritance, may we overflow with the kingdom characteristic of mercy. Break our hearts for those who spiritually, physically, emotionally, or relationally suffer. Empower us with your love, yielding compassion that is heartfelt and expressed in tangible ways. When encountering someone who is suffering, give us your mercifully discerning eyes to see their need, your wisdom to know how to care for their need, and an obedient and generous heart to meet their need. Lord Jesus, like you, reflect your mercy through our unconditional concern for others, unfailing commitment, and action-oriented solutions that bring true comfort and life-giving hope; may our assured hope compel us to share the gospel which offers eternal hope to others.
Father, as we go, specifically guide us in how to effectively show mercy to the hungry, the thirsty, the naked, the homeless, the rejected, the fearful, the sick, and even our enemy.
When opportunity is ascertained, give us timely sensitivity to bless those in need with unconditional forgiveness, or through making a contact, or by initiating friendship, or through welcoming a stranger, or by attentively listening, or through returning kindness when wronged, or by service to someone with physical labor, or through overlooking a wrong, or by choosing sensitive words over harsh words, or through patient hope, believing in someone who has given up hope for themselves. In every case, may we make prayer for those in need a priority.
Lord Jesus, like all godly characteristics, the mercy you invite us to express is impossible except it be Holy Spirit derived. May we experience the miraculous overflow of Christ in and through our lives that then expresses to others Christ’s life-giving mercy.
In Christ,
Blessings!
