Prayer 64: Beatitudes: Blessed are the Meek

2 Timothy, Character, Matthew

Gracious Father, we find we are bewildered and inept when hearing Christ’s proclamation that those who are meek shall be blessed. We are bewildered because meekness seems weak and inconsequential, and we are inept because it is an unnatural trait as we face the challenges of this world.

We confess our nature is to fight, to protect our earthly portion, to compete, and to win both materially and even spiritually.

Father, supernaturally bless us with your kingdom mindset. Rather than waste our emotional and physical energy laboring to prove our value and protect earthly possessions, overwhelmingly instill in us a kingdom perspective. as sojourners, that we might manifest supernatural meekness like our King, knowing we will reign with him. May this meekness or gentleness, which is derived from eternal assurance found in our relationship with Christ, result in security, calmness, and bravery.

Constantly remind us that we are secure, our earthly provisions are promised, and our eternal hope is anchored. We need not be esteemed highly, conquer this world, or attain its plunder. Regarding the things of this world, particularly the pride of life, may we exhibit Christ-empowered meekness.

When tempted with jealousy or envy, may we be meek.

When faced with conflict, may we be meek.

When we are ignored, may we be meek.

When we are misunderstood, may we be meek.

When we are falsely accused, may we be meek.

When we don’t get our share, may we be meek.

When we are disrespected, may we be meek.

When opposed, may we be meek.

However, regarding kingdom calling, may we fiercely love others through word and deed and point them also to hope found in Christ alone. May we pray and love sacrificially, never giving up hope, knowing we are victors, and knowing the battle belongs to our Lord.

Lord Jesus, like all godly attributes, we are sure of one thing: we cannot manifest them in our own strength. However, we are also sure of this: where there is a command, there is a promise to yield such power when humbly sought. We declare we can’t do this on our own, but you can manifest this blessing.

Jesus, as broken and contrite followers of you and future heirs of the new earth, empower us to be meek men and women!

In Christ,

Blessings!

Matthew 5:5
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

II Timothy 2:12a
If we endure, we will also reign with him.

Through Christ, the once-severed relationship with Jehovah God is reunited. Life will erupt within your once spiritually dead heart. The rivers of intimacy will be free to flow. The Father again will delight in you, and you will bask in His rich love. Futility is spoiled with eternal purpose. (Pg. 71- Mistaken Identity)
