Prayer 61: For Christ-centered Overflow

James, Promises

Gracious Father may your Holy Name be raised high above all in every aspect of our life. we deeply desire your supernatural wisdom and understanding, leading to a spirit of goodness and deeds overflowing from humility. We readily confess that, left to our own fleshly ways, there is no hope. We are apt to build our own kingdom, harboring bitter envy and selfish ambition in our hearts. Sadly, we will take anything captive for our own glory. Unbelievably, we can even take the sacred calling of our ministries and lead with envy and self-ambition, making it about us. These attitudes are worldly, unspiritual, and demonic perspectives that leads to disorder and evil practices.

Lord Jesus, we thank you for your love and the precious price you paid to rescue us and empower us to say “yes” to you and “no” to the flesh. We are helpless without you, but victors through your redeeming work. Continue to impart in us Christ-centered humility and Godly wisdom that comes from heaven, which is all pure, then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. May we be peacemakers who sow in peace and reap a harvest of righteousness.

In Christ,

Blessings!

James 3:13- 18
Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. 14 But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. 15 Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. 16 For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.

17 But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. 18 Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.

But Paul’s definition of victory had nothing to do with circumstances. For him it was much deeper. Spiritual victory was about Christ Jesus, the source of victory. His message was centered on knowing Christ. It seems that intimacy and companionship with Christ Jesus was victory. (Pg. 14- Mistaken Identity)
