Gracious Father, glorious praise fills our hearts as we contemplate our Great King. Thank you for this great passage, Isaiah 32: 1-3, that foreshadows Christ Jesus our Lord. He indeed reigns in righteousness and rules with justice. Our hope is found in Him alone. In Him we experience rivers of intimate communion abundantly satisfying our thirsty hearts. In Him we find our safety. In Him we find our delight. In Him we find truth abundantly. In Him we receive refreshment and comfort for our needy souls.
You, Jesus, are our great rock providing our shelter from the torrid conditions of this desperate and fallen world. You have raised _ and me up as a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, your special possession, that we may declare the praises of him who called us out of darkness into his wonderful light.
Therefore, as your redeemed and beloved children having experienced Christ’s rich mercy, we pray that we will be a shelter from the wind and a refuge from the storm for others as they face the vicious onslaught of temptation and degradation from the evil one who plays on the heartstrings of their flesh through lies and deception. May we always point them to Christ. Never allow us to give up on others, particularly those who have given up on themselves. Give us hearts of discernment and wisdom to speak the truth in love. May the truth gently fall on them like streams of water in the desert and the shadow of a great rock in a thirsty land. May their eyes be opened, and their ears clearly understand that they too can know and experience the rich blessings found in Christ alone.
In Christ,
Blessings!
Isaiah 32:1-3
1 See, a king will reign in righteousness and rulers will rule with justice. 2 Each man will be like a shelter from the wind and a refuge from the storm, like streams of water in the desert and the shadow of a great rock in a thirsty land. 3 Then the eyes of those who see will no longer be closed, and the ears of those who hear will listen.
I Peter 2:9-10
9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
