Prayer 48: For a Hearing Heart

Colossians, Praise

Gracious Father, through the incredible work of Christ, we have been raised with Christ through your sacrificially redeeming love and we are supernaturally empowered to live Spirit-filled lives that reflect your glory. Therefore, as your chosen people, we ask that Christ be glorified as you clothe us with your eyes and ears to see and hear the heart cry of those around us.

Give us welcoming, pleasant, considerate, and generous attitudes to everyone we encounter. Endow us with complete humility that demonstrates our neediness for a Savior and our hope found in Christ. Overflow through us with a spirit to put the needs of others before our own as we consider others before ourselves.

As your children, we experience your perfect love and care, giving us a true sense of identity, safety, peace, confidence, and security. Our needs are met. Therefore, turn our attention to others by blessing us with sincere interest and sensitive hearts to their concerns. Enable us to wisely discern others’ inmost needs and gently care for them.

Lord Jesus, give us persevering patience to never give up on someone, particularly if they seem to have given up on themselves and look hopelessly unredeemable.

Father, we are clearly aware that we, as believers, are not yet perfected as we walk through the sanctification process on this earth and await our heavenly reward. Therefore, bless us with unwavering hope in all relationships and lead us to bear with each other and forgive one another when grievances are faced. Anoint us with a quickened heart to forgive as you forgave us.

Lord Jesus, may we experience your filling, driving all of these attitudes and actions by your supernatural love and power. And may the name of Jesus Christ be raised high above all as we are drawn together in perfect unity.

In Christ,

Blessings!

Colossians 3:12-14
12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Imagine what life would look like if we experienced true love, peace, freedom, and significance. Imagine the impact through our lives if Christ was that real to us. Christ came to meet us at our deepest level of need. He came to “do life” with us. He came to love us. He came to set us free. (Pg. 15- Mistaken Identity)
